COMMISSION ON MINISTRY
Committee on Discernment

A canonical change in 2003 divided the Commission on Ministry into two committees, a Committee on Discernment and a Committee on Christian Formation, each headed by a co-chair of the Commission.

At the Bishop's request, the Committee on Discernment meets to interview those seeking ordination and reports its observations and recommendations to him. Its reports become one source of information for the Bishop in deciding whether the person continues in the ordination process. The Committee also discusses and advises the Diocese on general issues having to do with ordained ministry.

The Committee on Christian Formation focuses on advancing opportunities for the ministry of all the baptized in the Diocese of Vermont. Forms for continuing education grants and other resources are available on the committee's page.
