Investiture attendees waited in line to enter the National Cathedral
at 10 am. |

Outgoing Presiding
Bishop Frank Griswold greets the congregation. Behind him are members
of the welcoming party, Washington Bishop John Chane, House of
Deputies President Bonnie Anderson, the Presiding Bishop's Canon
Carlson Gerdau, Cathedral Dean Samuel Lloyd, and former Presiding
Bishop Edmond Browning. |

House of Deputies President Bonnie Anderson says, "let the gifts
you are about to receive be signs of the ministry you share with
all baptized persons and of the responsibility entrusted to you as
Presiding Bishop, Primate and Chief Pastor of this family of the
worldwide Anglican Communion." |

Rabbi Myra Soifer, Dr. Azizah Y. al-Hibri, and the Most Rev. Njongonkulu
Ndungane (Primate of the Church of the Province of South Africa)
present oil, the symbol of reconciliation and healing. Other gifts
were a Book of the Gospels, water, and bread and wine. |

Bishop Frank Griswold presents the primatial staff to Bishop Jefferts
Schori. |
