Schedule and General Information This year's Diocesan Convention will be held at the Cathedral Church

Download pdf (383kb) Display space for the 2009 Diocesan Convention will be in the downstairs Parish Hall. Space will be reserved on a first come-first served basis, with room for about 18 displays (space being one-half of an 8’ table), and perhaps more in the middle of the room. All displays should be in place by Friday morning at 10:30 and removed no later noon on Saturday so that the space can be used for lunch. Download display space reservation form. Schedule
Overview Friday, November 6 Registration – 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cathedral – no lunch provided on Friday. Traces of the Trade will NOT be shown as previously scheduled. It will be shown at 3:30 Deacons' Lunch – Noon–1 p.m. at the Cathedral Convention 101 – 1:00–1:45 p.m. at the Cathedral. A short course in the “whys and wherefores” of the convention business session. The workshop leaders explain what delegates can expect to happen on and off the Convention floor. Legislative procedures, how to amend a resolution, and what we will be voting on and how we will vote are just a few of the topics covered. .New and seasoned delegates have found this session very helpful. Choir Rehearsal – 1:00–3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral. All interested in singing for Evensong and the Saturday Eucharist are welcome to join the choir. The choir will NOT vest. Hearings – 1:45–3:15 p.m. at the Cathedral. The Hearings on proposed resolutions, canon changes, and the diocesan budget provide a condensed forum for delegates to discuss briefly the issues that will come to the floor of Convention. Members of the Resolutions Committee, Canons Committee, and Council (for budget hearings), as well as those individuals who submitted the resolutions or canon changes will be on hand to answer your questions. Delegates are expected to have attended one of the Pre-Convention Hearings during the afternoon session of the Ministry Fairs when these issues are discussed in great detail. Forum – 3:30–5:00 p.m. at the Cathedral. Traces of the Trade, a documentary film about a prominent Episcopalian New England family's participation in the 19th Century slave trade, will be shown, followed by a time for discussion. Evensong – 5:15–6:00 p.m. at the Cathedral. Clergy are asked to vest (choir vestments) and process. Friends of Bill – 6:15–7:00 at the Cathedral Social hour – 6:15–7:00 p.m. at the Hilton Dinner – 7:00–9:00 p.m. at the Hilton. Bishop Stewart Wood, Guest Speaker Traces of the Trade – 9:15–10:50 p.m. Second showing at the Hilton Hotel is cancelled. Saturday, November 7 (all events at the Cathedral) Registration at 8 a.m. (for those not already registered) Eucharist – 8:30–9:45 a.m., The Reverends John Morris and Nancy Vogele, preachers.
