I. CONNECTING
THROUGH LITURGY AND MUSIC
The Book of Revelation challenges us to imagine
the consummation of all things as a party – the marriage supper
of the Lamb – at which “every family, language, people, and
nation” sings
the praise of the One who sits upon the throne. Drawing children into
the liturgical and musical life of the worshiping community offers them
deep connection with God’s love and access to this vision. Come
experience ways and resources for children and adults to gather at the
Lord’s feasting table, in prayer
and song.
Presenter: Mark A. DeW. Howe, Canon Precentor
II. CONNECTING
THROUGH CHRISTIAN FORMATION
While Christian Formation is at the heart
of what helps us grow together in community, it is challenging to develop
and sustain good programs. Yet within our worship communities we have
everything that is needed to create programs which support the formation
of individuals and groups. This workshop will teach a model of theological
reflection which can be adapted for many contexts, and will consider
the use of organic, homegrown programs in place of costly pre-packaged
curricula.
Presenters: The Rev. Tanya R. Wallace, Canon Educator; Stan
Baker, MA, Clinical Director, Howard Community Services
III. CONNECTING THROUGH
CHRISTIAN MEDITATION John Main’s great insight
was that the practice of silent, imageless prayer creates community. Christian
meditation can connect us with ourselves, others, and the Other. Experience
this ancient tradition of imageless prayer as a way to seek God in silence
and stillness beyond word and thought. In this workshop we will model a
way to build contemplative communities within our parishes.
Presenters:
The Very Rev. Kenneth W. Poppe, Dean and Rector; Lynn Bates, Canon to the
