Dinner Speaker and Preacher
The Very Rev. David Allard duPlantier, has served as Dean of Christ Church Cathedral in New Orleans since February, 2002. A native of Louisville, Kentucky—he was born there in 1961—duPlantier earned a degree in economics from Miami University of Ohio and worked in health care marketing before attending The General Theological Seminary and graduating in 1993 with a Master of Divinity. He served congregations in the Diocese of Southern Ohio before being called to Christ Church Cathedral.

DuPlantier has been involved in Anglican ministry in the Middle East, most recently working with a center for healthcare for Palestinian children in and around Jerusalem and the West Bank. After Hurricane Katrina, he mobilized the cathedral community in a variety of relief efforts. One led to the Jericho Road Episcopal Housing Initiative, a low income housing LLC sponsored by Episcopal Relief and Development and the Diocese of Louisiana. The cathedral’s bicentennial fell just two months after the 2005 hurricanes, and duPlantier formed a partnership with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. That led to the commissioning of a major work for the bicentennial, “All the Saints,” by Irvin Mayfield.
